Well this sucks guys....Years ago I was hit buy a lady riding my motorcycle and spent 3 months in the hospital and lost my right leg. Anywhoo...I broke my prosthetic leg and need a new knee unit. LOL that sounds weird i know....the insurance will not cover the part i need and the part is 1 month out of its warranty so I am forced to purchase the knee unit myself. It is $6000K. Recently my 1981 GMC got hit in a parking lot and my insurance hosed me on that as well. Now I think i spun a main bearing in the motor. My wife will not stop about how this truck is nickel & diming us. It is really starting to cause issues between us. I need the new part for my leg. I'm just wondering what you all think i should do. What it needs is a new cab corner, and door skin on the driver side as well as the motor to be torn down and rebuilt. Thx for your thought.

I dont know about the value of your truck, but wanna wish you the best. You will be in my prayers. It sucks to have to sell the truck, but there are more important things right know. Your replacement part for your leg, and more importantly, your wife. I just ask that you dont leave us totally because you dont have the truck anymore. You still have valuable input and knowledge that we dont need to loose. Hang in there, and know we wish you the best.

What part do you need for your knee? What kind of prosthesis do you have? You should try to contact the manufacurer and see if they can "good will" it. Let them know what's up.
P.S. Every vehicle will nickel and dime you to death and so will most wives lol

My mom was in a construction accident about 12 years ago lost one leg and the other is severely damaged, workmans comp is paying for all of it. and every now and then she has problems with them so she gets on the phone calls her lawyer and he talks to them next thing you know she gets what she wants lol. i would get a hold of a lawyer in less you have all ready sued the lady's insurance company you should still be fine. now another thing do you have anything else to drive besides the truck? i don't think you could get 6k for yours, don't know the shape of it tho. once you rebuild the engine if thats the problem you should be good for a while i think its worth it

There are a couple of ideas that come to mind. Not sure if it will work for your given situation. Is the leg repairable or do you need to replace the whole thing? If it's repairable, is it possible to use car parts(it's out of warranty anyways)? I've seen some pretty crazy things that people make. Maybe a balljoint and struts kinda thing. You just need it to be functional right? I don't know just trying to be creative. If it's definitely not repairable then I would explore a refinance option on your home(if possible). The rates are great if you have the credit. Good luck and if I can think of anything else i'll post.

Dude, Sad to hear and I hope you get YOU fixed first. You are much more important than the truck. But I would like to know where you live? I would be willing to help if I knew you were close enough. I have some engines that are ready to go that could just be dropped in. I dont have a 350 ready to go but I have 4 305's sitting and waiting for homes that I would give away no problem.
If you are not close to me I would be willing to bet someone close to you would be willing to do the same. Good luck and for Gods sake but you First then your wife. And Yes when my wife complians about money I spend on MY truck I remind her of the Money spent on MY wife...........lol

Money spent on these trucks....hmmmm. What's the price of a new truck?
-
I would like to see a new truck do what I can do with mine..........lol
I will hook bumper to bumper with any new truck. no worries. Money well spent.

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. Hope the truck isn't your only means of transportation. If not, it could wait till times are better. Not worth loosing anyone for. As for your leg, have you or anyone else gone the fund raising route? Around here, if a person or family is in need, there is usually some type of event, be it a garage sale, procedes from a concession stand or bake sale, a concert, an account set up at the local banks, even jars and cans on the counters at stores. Normally, the response and generosity is more than can be imagined if it is for a worthy cause. But if your case isn't known, the ball will never start rolling. Just wishing you and yours the best.
