Hey all. I was wondering about the possibility of the above mentioned project. I see that the 6.9 has a 12 inch clutch and can be converted to a solid mass flywheel. I also know I can correct the pilot diameter of the sm465 to fit the ford pilot bearing. What I was wondering was if anyone knew if the bellhousing from a borg T-19A trans(whats behind a 6.9 for a 4 speed), would bolt to an SM465 trans? I could run a 6.2, but in my opinion they are a craptastic waste of money.

The 6.9 had the same problems the 6.2 did, cracked heads. Other than that they are about equal as far as power output and reliability.

If you want to go IH I would go 7.3

Yes.Consider a NA 6.5 before you change to a 6.9. You'd have less fitment problems. A pretty good site is Gearhead engines for more info-

If you wanna go IH engines go DT466. not only can you make some stupid power with them but its relatively cheap to make the power because they are just so darn common. Although it would be way too heavy for your application weighing in around i think 1400 for weight. haha

Despite my heavy dislike of the show "Trucks!," i would suggest you watch this weeks episode for some tips concerning gas to diesel swaps. i think they are doing a cummins swap, but some of the info could be helpful.
NOTE: They have also shown blatant displays of racism/predjucdiseness recently on this show. How sad. Both of the these hosts as well as the show itself have, in the past, disapointed me. But now more so than ever.
But yeah, go diesel. Diesel is cool and probably one of the answers to our "crisis" if there is one.
