My truck is a 1978 scott k10 fleet on a 79 short bed frame, truck was originally a longbed. the tank is new 73-81 short bed tank pass. side. the donor truck for bed was a 82-86 i believe. the neck is origionally from the long bed and i can't get the neck and filler hoses to mount up right to the tank and bed, its very hard to fill truck with fuel. do i have the wrong tank? can it be used? do i have to get 82- 86 hoses and filler neck? has anyone had this problem?
thanks!

Make sure you have the hose positioned correctly. The tank is the same.

the neck seems like its very long. when put in with neck pointing straight down, the bottom of neck is below the inlet to fuel tank, is that right?

There are different necks, the '73-'78 has a round bolt-on flange that bolts flat on the bedside & the '79-up has a different one for the use with the pocket/filler door. It sound to me you have the old one bolted in the pocket, which would make it too long & tilted down because of the pocket. From what I'm making of it you have a "new" bed with an "old" filler neck. As mentioned, the tanks are the same. Sounds like you need a "newer" neck. Lorne

I typed out almost that same as what Haulin did and then found he already posted the info, but he is right, there are more than one filler sounds like you have the wrong one.

that is very helpful, thanks guys. i am assuming that i will have to get 81 and up hoses to. do you guys have any idea where i can get the right neck, tried and they only sell the hoses i believe.

Filler necks are available used only.
