after my truck is warmed up it starts fine but if i let it cool down a little bit it starts hard, i have to push the gas a little bit and it takes a longer than it should to crank over....any suggestions on why its doing this?

Give us more info on your truck. Do you have a carburetor? Which one?
-
350 with a q-jet carb

Do you get a puff of black smoke when it does start? I'd check for leaking well plugs.
-
no black smoke but when it does start hard blue smoke comes out...which means oil, i already know the valve seals are bad but would those cause it to start like that?
-
If the fuel bowl drains into the intake #1 your plugs will foul and #2 your fuel bowl is empty which means a harder start. Pull the carb off and seal the well plugs with some JB weld and see what happens.

im not to good with carbs so do you have any pics or steps on how to do it?

Just google quadrajet well plugs and you'll probably find 100 articles on how to.
