Title: Identifying an engine...
Post by: Dirtydog on April 28, 2009, 05:15:40 pm
I have this block that I really am not sure what it is. The number is GM 3834810 But GM put that number on three different engines.

3970010....302.....69....4...Z-28 Camaro
3970010....327.....69....2...Trucks and industrial
3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4

It is a 2 Bolt main. And no I don't know what it came out off. Any other way to tell?

Thanks!

The numbers you lists that the 3 are the same aren't the same as the number you listed at the top, which is as Blue 82 stated a 64-66 283.

Check  the front of the block. Sometimes there's an engine boss on the front of the block below the passenger side head. It would be a stamping with a prefix or suffix letters or both.
