take a peek under your hood. Guess with me, it has always been the mystery of what is tucked away under that sheet of metal. Just by nosing around in someones engine bay, I have seen and used many ideas to enhance the appearance of mine.Thought is would help me or someone else see something that wasn't thought of or overlooked. Alot of interesting ideas out there to pick up on that can apply to any one of us, from the obvious to the very suttle. I know y'all should have all kinds of pics, so post them up. Don't matter whether it's appearance is bone stock or all dressed up, six or eight cylinder, clean or dirty. Maybe even what you had to what you have now. So open up them hoods. Since I don't have one on, it is not to hard to look at.
Thanks...Joe

Only thing I have are pics of Oldyellers truck. The First two are cool to me because at the time they were taken, the engine had over 275000 miles on it.
The next one is the new 468 that is in it now. Not much to look at, but sure fun to drive

Great pictures/setups!! I especially like oldwhity's. Just love how the rust is flowing down the firewall. It is truly amazing how these trucks keep on tickin' despite the slow "cancer" eating away at them. Love it. Keep the pics coming. My truck had the luxury of the previous owner doing some rattle can undercoating on the firewall so it is going to be stripped.

I have to clean up some plumbing, namely the heater hoses, then plug wires and that PCV hose. The most 'custom' thing I've done on mine is paint the K&N logo on the air cleaner and the Dart logo on the valve covers in matching yellow to the truck.
To those who have small blocks and headers, what headers are you using and how well do they fit?
-
Nice stuff guys!!! Thanks for responding and hope to see more. I have already seen something that I need to use on mine, such as the hose separators on the heater hoses. But in my case, I need them to clean up my bundle of fuel lines. Like I have said, it's the small details that are easy to over look until it's seen on someone else's setup. For the "older originals", leave them as they are. As with most things, age just adds a little character and a witness to the test of time. Sooo, keep'um comin'!!

These (http://www.anplumbing.com/shop/index.php?shop=Accessories&dept=Separators) came with my hydroboost system kit. They work well and look nice. But if you can find 1/2" thick aluminum bar stock at the hardware store you can make your own very easily and for alot less.

Here is a picture of my engine compartment in 06. The engine is now out and rebuilt. Will post a picture of it back together-perhaps in early June. (http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu237/Chevystepsidepu/pumotorview.jpg)

thanks, I have Mojave heater under the dash, and one of these day's I may hook up the heater hoses but probable after car show season, and I decided I did like the braided hose cover so it went bye bye

Good choice on removing the hose covers...looks much better!!
-
thanks, next when I do a tune up I going to hide the plug wires under the headers and wrap the headers

You later model guys catch any crap about your emissions? Yeah i know most trucks here dont have to pass emissions, but i was told by a cop once that if you dont have all your factory emissions, you aint getting no sticker. That the shop you get it done at is supposed to make sure you aint running with no cats, no air pump, or EGR valve and that kind of stuff. Whatever the vehicle was supposed to come with. He said that if they do sticker a vehicle like that, they could be up for a nice $10,000 fine. Just something i always wonder about when i see some of these nice engines with none of that extra trash sticking to it.
-

The shop can always say "Well he had all the proper smog equipment when I last inspected it." So there is no real way to enforce that unless they catch them in the act.
-
Ive seen highway patrol officers stake out inspection places and check vehicles right after inspection. Our local inspection shop losst their liscense because of it. This shop was a racers dream. If it didnt run through the wall of the shop when it came in, then it got a sticker. Depends on if the shop has let a few questionable vehicles go through, and how determined the local law enforcement is.
-
I have had to "buy" stickers before. I did not like to do it, but i didnt have a choice at the time cause i just didn't have the extra $150 on hand for a new cat. I believe in emissions tests, its just hard to pass em sometimes. Even my 87 silverado has to pass emissions for 1 more year lol.

Heres a couple of my 77 Cheyenne.

Sorry, I couldnt edit so here's a couple more of what it did look like.

And this is what it looks like now.

N2TRUX,Where did you get your air cleaner lid in the first pic? I need three of them.
-
Very Nice N2trux...
Choptop, google oval air cleaner http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&safe=off&q=oval+air+cleaner&sa=N&start=0
-
Thanks Vile, wanted one of those too, but I was wanting the stock looking lid in the first pics.
-
Gotcha. Spectre makes a chrome lid that goes on the factory style air cleaner or they make a dual inlet set up also.
-
Sweet, Thanks

Here is my engine in and ready to be started next week.

Thanks. Yeah I sprayed a little bit of everything on it ;). The engine's just a .030 over 454, 9.5:1 CR, comp 286H bumpstick, Patriot heads. Man, I'm drooling over that bug catcher of yours :o.

Even tho the setup is only a little over a year old, I still slobber some myself. Since there are two blower cars in town already, I wanted to be different so went the efi route. VERY expensive eye candy but worth every penny.
