is a frame from a 1500 4wd the same design as a 2500 4wd frame?

The body mounting is the same. The frame is somewhat thicker, and some of the suspension may be different. Engine and tranny should interchange ok.

to go with chop said the body engine and trans mounts are the same maybe gas tank if its the same size but suspension is diffrent, and something you prob allready know but 4x2 and 4x4 are the same frame just with diffrent bolt on parts

im looking at a 1500 4wd frame with the running gear and everything, would i be able to use parts from my 2500 2wd frame?

What parts are you looking to swap?

i think most of the parts can be switch but you haft to change what they connect to, ex. leaf spring you have to use the shackles

i would like to find an 8-lug front axle then put my leafs and rear axle on the back(i kind of want to make it a 2500 chassis) are the leafs on the 1500 shorter than the 2500 ones? if i find an 8-lug front axle could i just swap it in?

spring lenght depends on the application. As far as Long beds go it breaks down like this for spring length.
1/2T Std = 52"
1/2T HD = 56"
3/4T Std/HD = 56"

nothing...i have a 3/4 ton 2wd and i want a 3/4 ton 4wd and would like to use mine as parts....is there any way of telling if the 1/2 ton is std or hd besides measuring the springs?

just as some additional info, my 73 4x4 2500 had 52" springs rear, swapped em into my 82 1500 4x4. not sure if capt is talking about front or rear.
i have swapped many parts from my 2500 to my 1500, every one of em bolted right up. even the headers. gonna be swapping out a couple crossmembers soon, maybe even the 8 lug axe swap. they all bolt right up, no mod's.

Keep in mind, if you swap the axles from the 3/4 ton to the 1/2 ton frame, you will not have a 3/4 ton. You will have a 1/2 ton with heavy duty axles (heavy half). It would probably work out just fine, but I wouldnt use is for real heavy hauling. The frame on the half ton is lighter duty. Im not sure if it would cause an issue, but be careful. Sounds like its gonna be a sweet truck in the end tho.

ya i dont haul anything heavy probable the heaviest thing i haul is trash and thats not too heavy so i should be fine
