can someone tell what tranny this is, i switched engines and my 700r had the speedo cable hooked up but this tranny doesnot have a spot for the cable to go.

thanks! guys so how do i hook up my speedometer to this tranny my old 1 had the cable on it but this one does not!

You can use the parts from your other trans. Take the driven gear also. Look in the hole & see if you have the same color drive gear on the shaft, if not you will need to remove the tailshaft housing & switch it also...really would be easier to buy a new one the right color. Lorne

the 4l60's plug is bigger but thats one the one with the round plug not the square, thats why i didn't recognize it. i thought even with the square plug the plug is in the left side not the right?

Irish, Do not confuse the 4L60 with the 4L60E. The non-electronic 4L60's have the same square plug (in his picture) for the lock-up, uses a TV cable & a govenor. The 4L60 is just a improved/updated 700R4. The 4L60E is a fully electronic transmission, using a computer for varying the pressure/shift features & lock-up. Hope this clears it up, Lorne

Just replace the vss with your speedo gears. You can use the existing tailshaft.

so your saying keep the tail on the trans in the 1st pic and changed out the vss on this trans with the speedo gears on the trans in the 2nd pic. is there an article on how to do this i have searched and could not find.But i promise i will stop asking newb ? when i get this taken care of.

Pull the gear set out of the one with a cable (along with the shaft gear and swap it over.)

It is a plastic gear slid on the output shaft. It is the stuff pictured in this article:

thanks! Capt. can i just take the tranny in pic 2 on the v6 and install it on the motor in pic 1 the v8 will the fly wheel and the torque converter work with the v8 engine.
