Title: Warped drums??
Post by: oldwhity on May 06, 2009, 08:37:56 pm
Is it possible to have warped drums? The other week I had the 85 up on the stands trying the hunt down a noise. I noticed when the truck was on the stands and the wheels were turning that the drums had a little wallup in them. I don't really notice it while driving though and the truck doesn't shake when applying the brakes.

I wouldn't think so.  Has the truck ever fallen off of jack stands with no wheels on it and therefore landed on the drums?

the outer edge that you were watching isnt a true round circle. the machined part is inside where the shoe make contact. It sounds like u are ok. You can warp a drum though

I bought new drums from Autozone once and they were out of round. The rear brakes would grab odd, after a week or so I pulled the drums back off and found one of them to be out of round almost a 1/4"!
