I have a 84 K-20 350 with 400/203, thinking of swapping to sm465/205 will the transfer case adapter on the th400/203 work on the sm465/205? how much longer are the front driveshafts? anyone know of any online junkyards or part sites that would have the 2 shafts or adapter if needed.

what you gonna do with the 400/203? dibs

Those trucks didnt come factory with a 203 trans so that has been swapped in...
The swap is well worth it in my book. I swapped the 350/203 out of mine for a 465/205 setup. I checked the classifieds in the area and found a guy parting a truck out. Picked EVERYTHING up for $650 (pedals, linkage, front shaft {he had a short bed truck}, bellhousing, clutch and flywheel). If lower gearing off road is what you are after, you could get the doubler from ORD and have 1:1, 2:1, and 4:1 ratios. For the rear driveshaft, I had a local welding shop cut and weld up a different shaft for the correct length.

You are talking the 81-87 specifically, right, because the 73-80's did come with NP203's

1991 R/V 3/4-1Tons with the smaller 6 bolt pattern. 1/2T were getting the new NP241 but could still get it. Its one of those "phased" years.
