I wanna see it but I'll wait for the dvd I guess.  I don't have anything really against theaters except $50 popcorn and such but I havent been in a theatre since '97 or so when Titanic cam out...lol  Old GF talked me into, and it all worked to my favor too... ;)

Anything dealing with, concerned with, or on the subject of Star Trek is awesome:

a) No, i don't watch star trek or am a trekkie.

b) i probably will not watch it until it comes on DVD or is aired on tv

c) my last girlfriend was a trekkie, which i did not discover until later;  This actually turned out to be problematic.  (because, no offense, but trekkies are a little wierd)

d) i think something that is missing is science fiction type movies.  We need more of those.

Personally I'm not a ST fan. I hated when my grandpa' made me watch the show with him, then my dad with ST the next gen. and all the shows from that....
But for some reason this looks like something i would see when my neighbor rents it !! lol.

I saw it at it's first showing. As a SciFi show it was awesome to the point where my non Trekie friends raved about it.

As a hard core trekkie though, I felt let down. Not because of acting or quality, but because of the divergence from the storyline that has been followed pretty well through 5 series and a massive number of movies.

I'll not say more so I don't ruin the movie for you. But this one last thought.

JJ Abrams has successfully revitalized a franchise which Paramount has been thinking of letting go for the last 8 years. While trekkies will feel slightly abandoned, the watering down of the story should help endear it to a whole new generation of fans.

Well I just went and saw it and must say it was pretty good. Just like any modern movie there's cheese but luckily it was kept at a minimum. Overall it was worth the $ The popcorn and soda,,, definitely not worth the $ lol
