I am seriuosly thingking about lifting my 79 k2500 up 3 or 4 inches but am having a bit of time trying to locate a decent lift kit for this truck. Anyone that can stear me in the right direction I would greatly apreciate it. I need to replace the leaf springs front and rear anyway cause they are sagging pretty badly anyway. So I figured why not give it a bit of a lift while i'm at it.

what size tire you planing on running, what do you plan on doing with it. I've got mine from rough country all springs 6" for about 1000 that all you need from brake hoses to your springs w/ sway bar drop kit and a new steering arm. you can get them at sky jacker also if you want to spend more money. look on ebay you can sometimes find them on there.

BDS http://www.bds-suspension.com/ makes a good lift and they give a life time warranty http://www.bds-suspension.com/Company/whyBDS.php#warranty ( except shocks ) At the shop I work at we sell more BDS spring lifts than any other lift kit.

also depends on what your budget is and what your use will be for the truck. National wheel and tire has specials, call around and look thru the net and magazines for the best deal. Like said b4 you should have the steering arm, with less than a 6inch your brake lines will work... A 4inch and 35s sounds good, it wont make the truck to big and will be real usefull. ruff and tough country prob will be cheapest, local places here have superlifts cheap...

I have a 4 inch Rough Country lift and I am very pleased with the ride and it did very good at the badlands last weekend going thru all three trails including the Pink trail being the hardest. 33X12.50 15 Mastercraft courser mt tires.

I have a feeling this truck already has a bit of a lift on it. Not sure but to me it sits up high for a truck. But then it is the k2500 series. I am able to run GF goodwrinch Allterrain 33/12.5/16.5 tires on her now and there is pleanty of room for me to lay under the tranny without touching it.
Maybe this is natural for one of these trucks and i'm just imagining things. But it seems a bit high already. Just looking for about 3-4 more inch clearance down those wonderful muddy roads here in egefeild SC. Man is that red clay ever slick after it rains.
But to my great enjoyment I havent been able to get her stuck yet! The kid who sold me this truck for 1200 bucks just didn't realize what he had in that old GMC sitting in his back yard! :o

its probably stock high. since its 3/4 it sits higher than 1/2 tons and the 33's prob help a little

Yea I think it's stock high now that I have looked at it more. I am planning on general 4x4ing with the truck. I want to get atleast some 35 inch tires under her and want some clearance under her also so I'm thinking about 4-6 inches. Not to high though just enough to clear the underbrush and keep the transmission and all from dmg.
