Title: couple dumby questions
Post by: t_graham11 on May 19, 2009, 11:48:32 am
I went and took bought a 82 that has almost been completely restored, the guy just painted it and put the body back together theres no motor or tranny in it but he gave me a 350 and a turbo 400. the question I got is the cab is a high hump, did the 4 speeds come with a highhump that was unboltable? i thought that it was just the 4x4's that were highhump and this is a 2wheel. thanks

You took bought it? Does that mean you stole it?

Did you ask him if it's the original cab? My buddy had a 77 4spd C10 that had a bolt in high hump stock.

Welcome to the site! There is a post in the Technical section about the humps, they were used in some years in some applications in 2wd trucks . Lorne

haha sorry about that typo?? I was just so jammed about this deal, The guy who I bought (took) it off of got it from a guy and there was a 4-speed in it, but it was a 2wheeldrive, it confused the heck out of me cause I thought only 4x4's were high humps, is there any way of telling if its a 4x4 frame?

The only low humps are the 2 wheel drive autos, or three speed on the column / C 10's. SM456 2 wheel drives, and all 4x4's are high hump. Around 81 83 ish not sure on the exact year they stopped making the hump bolt in. None of the low humps where ever bolt ins.
The labor involved in switching it over from 4x4 to 2x or visa versa is not worth it.
