Title: Silvarado Trim Line Specs
Post by: CreativeNotice on May 19, 2009, 12:03:48 pm
I've a custom delux '85 c20.
Since it's a base model and I'm planning to do quite a bit of body work anyway, I got to thinking I might as well convert it to a silverado.
So the question is, what did the silverado trim line actually entail? What optional items were included?

My 87 silverado has carpet below the door panels, aluminum trim on the dash and panels, power windows, power locks. Cruise control, intermittent wipers, windshield washer, (bugwash spray). And a bunch of plastic trim all around the cab that my other base model trucks did not have. It also has a headliner. There are many things, probly best to just get a good look at a complete silverado and make a list. Hope this helps.

along with the aluminum wheel arches trim rings around the tail lights and signall lights, some had tilt wheel although i think that was just an option anyway. And i think with the silverado package it had that plastic rubber strip that ran along the door fenders and bed.

Yeah mine has all that stuff as well. Although that rubber trim that runs the length of the truck is getting real nasty. I replaced it once on my '81, but i dont think i can on this truck cause they would just have to yank it back off when it came time to paint it.

Thanks. I'm still working out exactly what I want to do with this truck besides the usual resto stuff. I found a tilt steering column localy from a silvarado so it's got the intermitent wippers (big on my list). Would you say $150 is a good price for it? That's what the guy is wanting for it.

I Any known issues with steering columns I should be aware of while checking it out?

Tilts are know for being "loose" at the tilt joint, there is an article for the tech page on how to fix it.  I don't know about your area as I don't know were you are from, but around here it would need to be REALLY nice for me to pay $150 for one.

One other option is go with the Scottsdale package, which gives you the brushed aluminum dash, upgraded seat but no plastic that sometimes rattles and no sagging headliner to ever worry about.  Put your tilt and intermittent wipers in, that is what I did on my Scotty but still will always have my rubber floor in it.  My $.02
