Ok, new thread for Axle identification. If you got some clear axle pictures (prefereably pumpkin and cover) please post them and list the application. I want to get a tech page for axle identification.

I can take some pix this week. There's a decent one on CK5's website too.

I would rather not "take" another sites pictures and link them here.

I just picked up a 75 C-10 yesterday. Its got a 12 bolt rear end and supposedly its the original. What gears came in the 12 bolt rears and is it a possibility of it being either a floater or a posi still?
Sorry. No pictures yet
-
12bolts were never floating, only 14bolts.
A number of gears could be in it and it could or could not be a posi. Pop the cover and you can find out both fast. The ring/pinion count is stamped on the gears...

14 bolt full floater diff
I have the same rear differential... Is there a marking on it to tell me the gear ratio?
-
which rear diff are you referring to? i think capt said the ratio is stamped in the ring (have to pull the cover to read it)
