Title: Rebuilding a Quadrajet
Post by: fast823 on May 28, 2009, 02:56:31 pm
Going to rebuild my quadrajet before it goes back on my in progress 383 and was wondering if I should go to a electric choke and put a new float in. Also any tips or other things I could do. I got the standard carb rebuild kit. Thanks,

Jb weld the well plugs. A new float is a good idea along with electric choke. See how it runs from there after you rebuild it.

I rebuilt a Q-jet a few years back. Definitely better with the new float and choke. The kit I bought had pretty good instructions in the box. Also make sure you clean all gunk out and think about using a better filter. Q-jets have a filter thats on a spring. If it gets clogged it by passes the filter.

Am I going to have to rejet due to the bigger motor?
