I have an 86 GMC K15 that originally had the 4BBL 305 and 700R4. When I bought it, I drove it home and didn't have any problems. I pulled the engine and tranny did some work on the chassis, etc. I switched the 305 out for a 3.9L Isuzu diesel, and changed to a TC for a 6.2 diesel for 86. I also put in a 6.2 governor to make the shift points more reasonable. Now that I have it all back together the trans doesn't work right at all. In low range, it almost has enough power to pull the truck, but not really. If I jack up one wheel, and try to rev it up, all gears, including neutral make the tires go forwards? Thought initially I had bought a dud TC and replaced it with no improvement. Now I've done a fluid change with filter and that made it able to move itself, but still not right. Is there something in the valve-body that's stuck or something? Maybe some wiring problems ( I thought 700's were all hydraulic other than the converter lock-up)? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

How is your TV cable set?

Did you flush the cooler at the radiator. Might be a fluid flow issue? Was there any water in the fluid at all?

There weren't any noticable problems with the fluid. I don't have the TV cable hooked up correctly, but I've had it both pulled, and not pulled, and there isn't any significant improvement. I have the cooler lines connecting the in and out with a piece of hose for now, since I haven't got them hooked to the radiator yet. Do any of these things sound like problems? I don't think the TV comes into play considering that Reverse and Neutral both still try to go forward?
Thanks,
Josh

Make sure the TV cable is connected and properly adjusted. Make sure the filter is correctly installed and connect your cooler lines. Check the fluid level and then we can give you more difinitive answers.

I'm pretty sure when I did the fluid change i put the new filter in correctly. Also checked the fluid level after the change, and it seemd OK. I'm still working on fabbing up the throttle cable and TV bracket to make the truck cooperate with the Isuzu engine, but I guess once I get that done and hook up the cooler lines correctly, I'll see what happens. Might be able to get that done tonight after work.
Thanks,
Josh
