Title: year models for rearends
Post by: Stowburb on June 01, 2009, 09:34:22 am
Can anyone tell me from what year model to what year model a rearend would work in an 87 k-5 4x4? I know the bodystyle is the same up till '91, but will a rearend from, say a '94 or a '95 work? as long as the gear is correct?
I can find several of the later model ones, but having a hard time finding a correct YM one for less that 5 or 6 hundred bucks.
I just dont want to spend that much on one.
Thanks, guys,
Chris

Any 73-91 K5 6 lug will work. Any 73-86 C/K or 87 up R/V will work. The 12 bolt will require a conversion u-joint and possibly a yoke swap. Have you looked for a parts truck?

Around here the prices are opposite. You can't give the old 10 bolts away. Here it's the 88+ pick ups/92+ blazer and suburban rear ends that are selling for big bucks.
