1979 Chevy k10 with 350 Engine bored .30 over and 350 tranny
I have manual Locking hubs and I go from hi to low lock and i can tell the ratio becomes much lower but only my rear tires will spin...In high the front drive shaft turns but its like it not connected to the gears in the front axle or something...The front tires will not spin with the rear ones...
Please help me figure this out..
Only had the truck for about 2 months.
Things that you may like to know....
My 4x4 Shifter looks like this (http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o88/davdoc0011/203shift.jpg)

If you put it in 4wd can you turn the front driveshaft with the wheel on the ground? If so lock your hubs and try spinning it.
-
should i put in low loc lo hi or hi loc and try? do i need to lock my hubs in?
-
Try it just as I said in any 4wd range.
-
Ok will try when i get home..Supposed to have a guy look at it tomorrow..
If it does spin whats the problem?
-
That would indicate a linkage problem or an internal transfercase problem.
-
yes have the hubs in the locked position
-
Well the problem was found and is now fixed.
when the 3 inch body lift went on...the shifter angle wouldnt allow it to make it all the way forward into the low loc position!
DUh :'( :'( :'( :'(
I guess i could have bought a new shifter but i just cut out and made room!!!

Nice to hear that it was something simple and not your transfer case. When I first got my full time 4 wheel drive it wouldn't shift into the lowLock or the High lock positions untill I soaked it down with 3in1 Oil over night now she shifts easy as can be. So keep the Shifter linkage in that thing clean or you'll be standing on it trying to get it into one of the lock positions LOL
