Has anyone had this issue with 8" wheels, no offset, on these year chevy's? I had to go to 1/4" spacers and grind the edge or the TR end to make them clear. Could the TR ends be aftermarket and too fat? Now I have barely enough lug thread left, like 3-4 turns total. I spoke to the wheel dealer and they said they've never had this issue with this wheel and these trucks.

Tim, If you only have 3-4 treads into the lugnut...DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK! This is unsafe & will cause you much bigger problems. Unless your talking MINOR grinding on the tie rod end, I don't like the sounds of that either. Sounds like you need different wheels, at least get longer studs. Lorne

How about some pics to help clarify things. Definatley dont drive with the lug nuts barely engauging.

Here is a photo of the issue. These wheels are the exact wheels that americanracing.com's fitment guide says fit this vehicle. I am thinking that maybe the TR Ends are replacement and have a larger diameter than OEM or American Racing sucks and they don't know what fits what.

Is it the rim that hits the tie rod or the wheel weights that are hitting? I've had problems with the clip on wheel weights hitting the tie rod before. I solved the problem by removing them and using the stick on type of weights.

The wheels have the wrong offset for your truck (I know, Mr. Obvious here) I have -51mm offset on my red truck and have no issues at all. The zero offset is common on the 90s 4x4 and up. Since you have 16s and not the standard 15s they came with, I believe they gave you the wheels for a newer truck and thats why youre having the problem. 16s are standard on 99 up. They need to put the correct wheels on for you. They made the mistake, they need to fix it.

What your saying makes sense. I spoke to the dealer and they are calling ARE, because that would mean there application data is wrong I guess. Thanks.

That is really interesting... I do believe that the 0-offset should fit these trucks, but obviously yours aren't fitting. I'm surprised that they let you leave their shop (1) with wheels that rub, and more importantly, (2) with lugs that aren't fully engaged? They are just begging for a lawsuit! Seriously DON'T drive the truck with the lugs in that condition.
The bottom line is that every single vehicle is different; the fitment charts are never absolute. So, the wheel dealer needs to fix their mistake either by ordering you new wheels (i.e. ones with NEGATIVE offset, like -12 or more) or they need to work with you on using spacers and longer studs, etc, to make these wheels fit.

I bought them through on online retailer...so I made the decision not to drive it. Thanks for the ammunition, the 11mm would work. Appreciated, I'll keep you posted.

So I can't return the wheels because they've been mounted and I didn't do a fittment check. Sweet. American Racing says that they seen this happen on a handful C/K pickups in the thousands they've sold so it is my problem. Looks like I'll be purchasing Billett ALuminum spacer/adapters. Anyone know where to get these cheap?

Man, I would be raising heck if I were you. I sold tires and wheels for 4 years and we ALWAYS took care of issues like this at our cost. It's not the customer's responsibility to know that the wheel fitment chart is incorrect. Did they tell you that the wheels need to be test-fitted? How long were they on the truck before you noticed that they didn't fit? 10 minutes? Doesn't that count as a "fitment test?? Read the fine print in the invoice they sent you... See if it says anything about test-fitting, etc.
If AR isn't going to switch them out then the retailer should at their cost. They could still sell these wheels as new-used and get some money out of them.
One last thing, you should take your wheels and test fit them on the right-front of every K10 you can get your hands on. Then tell AR that the wheels contacted the rod end on XX-percent of the trucks.

They do have a legal statement that says once they're mounted you own them. I guess I should have taken it more seriously. I am really pissed at this retailer and AR Wheels. The retailer did offer to sell me another set of wheels and tires at their cost and I would need to sell the misfits on my own. Spending another $800 bucks with them isn't going to happen. Billet adapters for $175 will be my fix. Just lube myself up and move on I guess.
