I know a lot of you guys here pretty much done full restorations to your trucks. Mine is still in the making, so i thought this would be an appropriate question. Did you ditch your truck's factory hood ornament during the course of your body restoration? Cause i won't be. I think it would be really cool to have something on a restored vehicle that looks new, that none of these new cars will ever have. Sure they may have some little logo, perhaps a flat emblem. But we are talking about an Ornament. Like something that looks like it goes on a christmas tree, it's so big. ;D I have grown accustomed to seeing mine there when i am looking down the hood, especially when pulling in somewhere or backing out. I think it would do the 'ol girl (if not the whole generation of trucks) a great injustice to deprive them of something that sets them apart from much of the new trash that is floating around out there today. Thoughts?

I've eliminated the hood ornament on all of my trucks. I just don't like them.
In high school my 1980 had one and I had a picture of my moon in there lol

I have never cared for them, but now I have kind of grown fond of the one on my 86 K 30. I think it depends on the whole look of the truck to have on or not.

Im trying to go for that original look, minus a few modern upgrades. But they have to be there. I cant deal with some of this old stuff lol. But the hood ornament is kind of like a symbol, in a way, of the times that the truck came from. I want the truck to be associated with it's age. Even in my town there a a few running around that are obviously restored cause they look brand new. And if you just sorta catch a glimpse of them, they look like they could be a much newer chevy truck. I guess cause chevy just has certain resemblances through the years. Course all automakers do.

My 85 GMC I am currently restoring didnt have one, but between all the parts trucks I acquired I got a hood with a hood ornament and the last final detail I will put on my hood to signify my finishing it will be a brand new GMC hood ornament. The perfect finishing touch in my opinion. I like hood ornaments.

Maybe it's a top end trim type of deal?

I could never figure it out. It seems that there was no rhyme or reason as to which trucks got them and which one didn't.
