Title: Need help with CA smog on my 1977 C10
Post by: daniellegoodman on June 09, 2009, 04:46:53 pm
Hey all, really new to this but can't find any answers elsewhere. I have a 1977 Chevy C10 Cheyenne thats missing almost all of the smog equipment and I need to smog it to transfer the title to my name. I've been struggling to find all of the parts that make up the following systems: EFE, EGR, TCS, PCV, EVAP, AIR. So far I've found hose schematics and talked to a number of emissions mechanics but no one is able to tell me what parts specifically make up those systems. Anyone on here willing to take the time to explain it? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Will post pictures soon that may help so you can see what I am missing.

Is your emissions label in tact?

unfortunately no.  :-\

I know that the truck was made in Fremont, California so it is a California emissions truck. The engine is a 350.

I would get a new veci label

They shouldn't make you have anything the veci label doesn't have on it.

For the cat, just get a high flow three way cat.

The EGR just hook that up to ported vacuum through a thermostatic vacuum switching valve.

You can pick up a thermostatic air cleaner from any junker and if you need a new stove pipe get one from autozone etc.

Assuming you have manifolds on there a heat riser is easy enough

Are you sure your truck came with a.i.r?

The EVAP and PCV system is fairly simple and can be pulled from any junker also.

The current California Vehicle Code does not require smog equipment on cars that are 30 years old and more.  You might want to get on the California DMV website and verify that your 1977 is included.

Thanks just got the Veci label, and picked up almost everything. The only thing I'm missing is the thermostatic air cleaner. Need one for a 4 BBL.
