Title: 75 with a 700r4. What do I need to do to get shifter display to work?
Post by: BigBadJohn on June 10, 2009, 11:46:08 pm
Looks like the shifter display below the speedo has been removed. Needle and letters. 75 with a 700r4. What do I need to get the shifter display to work and what years can I get the parts from?
How do the shifter displays in our trucks work? Is it something coming from the shift lever or a cable coming from the trans?
About backed up into one of the dusk to dawn light poles on my property

Thanks

The prndl gauge just uses a spring and a wire clip that connects to the column. It's bolted to the i/p cluster. You can easily swap it out for one that has the OD display.

Unfortunately I found it is discontinued from GM, any other sources known besides a salvage yard? Thanks, Lorne

Yes they are available through some restoration sites or just get a used one.

Lorne,
Are you looking for a NOS GM one for a restoration or are you just having a hard time finding a used one?
I have one from a 90 K5 Blazer if you need it. If you want it just let me know the address and I will toss it in the mail.

Dangit!
I just bought a shifter display off ebay and then remembered one of my extra clusters was out of a '90 pickup!
Oh well. Can never have too many extra parts
