What does a person use to install front fender (Scottsdale) emblems? Even before I did this restoration my emblems were a little loose and just held in by pressure. There is no way to get to the inside of the fender to put on nuts. There is barely enough clearance in the holes to get the emblems in. Hate to admit it but before the restoration I used a small amount of silicone on the pins to keep the emblems in. I am thinking about doing it again unless there is a tried and true method or inserts that hold them in. Suggestions please.

You have to be a contortionist!

Vile, those look like they would work if I drill larger holes in the fender. I was browsing the hardware store for some clips yesterday and found something that really worked well. Don't remember what they are called but made of rubber and look just like the camero things. Some kind of expansion unit. Small enough to fit in the hole. All I had to do was cut the small brass nut inside the rubber off the end of it, push it into the hole and then push the emblem points in. They are firmly in place and fit snug to the fender. I can still remove the emblems with a little careful effort when I need to wax the truck. I always hated the residue that gets behind the emblems. I know, they can be stolen easier when installed that way but it will still take some careful effort and time to pull them off. I am willing to take the risk for ease of installation and removal. If I find they don't hold for some reason, I will get the parts you suggested. Thanks

You should not need to drill the hole larger, you can buy them to go in the 1/4" hole. The emblem pins will need sanded down slightly. I would use the plastic ones to keep from nicking the paint. The local paint supply store will have what you need.
What you bought was "Well nuts", they are used for installing roof racks, ect. The bolt tightening up, swells the rubber out (your pin in the center will kinda do the same thing) Lorne

Thanks Haulin, that's what they are. They worked fine in my opinion. I plan to use them to install my cargo lamp. The last owner used molly bolts LOL and that was not good.
