Title: engine block id & power steering bracket
Post by: 4x4orbust on July 04, 2009, 10:44:31 pm
i am in the process of putting headers on my 82 k10, 355?, th350 and i found the old power steering brace bracket would not work with the headers.  what are my options for this bracket?  i pulled the bracket off my 73, and it utilizes different mounting holes and configuration.  (the 82 is more of an upside down U mounted on the front 2 manifold bolts,  and the 73 comes off the front of the head) and think i can fab up a mount, just want to make sure that this is needed.

also,  while i was at it, i cleaned up the drivers side block, and found some numbers.   i was wondering if anyone could help me id the block with these numbers, whether it is a 305, or 350.

GM 3970010

thanks

That number is a 350 and could be either 2 bolt or 4 bolt.

thanks, thats a sigh of relief.   i have receipts from P.O. that is was bored .030 over, with i believe an RV cam (hard to read the writing on the receipt) and who knows what else.  so that does, in fact, make it a 355.

anyone help on the power steering brace bracket?

Years ago I had the same issue.      I dont use V-belts anymore.  But I have plenty of the brackets in my storage room.   Which one you need?   I can send to you.
