How much does a pretty much stripped crew cab, WITH doors on it, weigh? How about w/o doors?
Whats the best way to remove from frame and move around with little or no other help from others. I seen pics on here of a guy moving a reg. cab with his engine hoist but I don't think I could pull that off with a crew cab. I'm leaning towards using a gantry (sp?) crane and hoist that is moveable but where to put strap or boards so the cab won't flex or bend or deform??
The time has come to beging the conversion, finally!
Thanks!

I've removed cabs using a lift on a crew cab or a few guys on a std. cab.
Doing a crew cab alone is a new one for me.
One way (although I've never tried it) would be to unbolt everything then jack up the truck frame as high as you can with a floor jack. Place some support under the rockers such as stacked up railroad ties, spare tire +rims, tall truck jackslands, etc. Just make sure the cab is supported safely and that the load is spread out on the rocker.
Now remove your tires+rims and bolt on some spare rims with no tires. Lower the truck down and roll the frame out from under the cab.
Like I've said, I never did one this way but I'm sure if you get creative it can be done.

I would NOT recommend this method. It was a pain.

I just removed a crew cab body from the frame and we used a piece of 3x3 steel tube and welded some eyes on it, then used two cherry picker(engine hoists) to pick it it up. The steel tube was put threw the drivers door and out the passengers door. We picked it up with all 4 doors on it and all the interior in it as well. We did open the front doors before we started. And yes it is a heavy sucker........good luck by yourself we had 4 guys helping. Just be real careful, don't hurt yourself.
