Title: Noob Here
Post by: Engineer on July 12, 2009, 08:12:04 pm
Hey guys, new guy here, dropping in to say hey.

I've been lurking around here for a couple of years, but just deceided recently to join up.

As you can see by my sig I have a love, er, I should say obsession with Chevrolet trucks.

What pushed me to finally join up was the fact that I have finally started to restore my old '77 Chevy K-30. I was looking around for some ideas, and came back to this site.

Look in the projects section for a thread on my build up.

Here is my family portrait:

Choptop-

There is a truck exactly like the one in your avatar running around Farmington, MO.

About 2~3 months ago, it was sitting in Farmington with a for-sale sign in it's windshield.

I don't know if it is still for sale or not, but it was really clean.

I posted up a pic linked to the dieselplace.com.

Is everyone able to see it? if not I can find some different pics to link to.

Diesel pages doesn't allow public access to their pictures.  Members that are on this board can see them but no one else can.

Welcome to the site though!  Sent you a PM on the pics.

I modified my "family portrait" picture in the first post.

I hope it visible to all. If not fire off a note to me, and I will try again.  ;D

Here is my son's truck that is in my sig, but was bought after the "family portrait" photo was made that is in my post that started this thread.

We (he  ::)) bought this truck with the premise that all it needed was a clutch, and exhaust. Well it did get the exhaust, as well as everything except the clutch replaced. From this angle you can't see the rust, but this truck is on the schedule to be fixed after I complete the repair of my '77.

Even after 2 engine swaps it still has the same clutch. Oh, yeah, we (me ::)) didn't have to replace the frame. LOL! But almost everything axles wise was replaced.

We (I) replaced the D60's king pins, and king pin bearings, bushings, springs, etc. I bought 2 brand new SRW hubs, and rotors, as well as new wheel bearings, brakes, braided brake lines, dual steering stabilizers, polyurethane bushings on every pivot, and so on.

The rear FF GM 14-bolt was junk. It got a different 4.10 ring, and pinion, as well as a new GM Gov-Lock. (I know, I know "gov-lock") But it didn't cost anything, and it will suffice until we can find an open carrier to drop a Detroit Locker in. Also I added a 4-wheel disc brake set up like I put on my '77 K-30 20 years ago.
