Title: 86 C-10 Custom Deluxe
Post by: Flashback on July 12, 2009, 11:41:31 pm
I got this truck for a great price, and its just the thing I need as I expand my car repair and sales business. This thing is totally 80's style and I love it, hence the name Flashback. Apparently it was a show truck back then.

I added the Hella lights on the front.

This is the truck that I've always wanted too, V8, 2WD, shortbed. Low mileage too, 87K.

It also has Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s signature on the dash.

And the price? $1.

yeah I know, it bogs and dies when I try to give it any more than 1/8 of the pedal haha. I'm picking up a used Edelbrock 650 tomorrow.

The guy said he couldn't sell it and his wife wanted him to get rid of it since he had a new truck. My girlfriend found it for me, thru a family friend. And the dollar was for the bill of sale, to show a transaction happened

It has the Intemidator's signature on the dash?  Wow, that might bring a price if you want to sell it.  That would be cool!!!  Great find...

It does, but he signed the glovebox door. So I may just remove that and sell it, I've been wondering what its worth.

My father is going to let me borrow a set of alloys he has kept around since he sold his 84 C10 15 yrs ago.

Yup Hurricane wheels, have all the center caps as well. A bit of corrosion, but no problem. He is also giving me a set of new running boards and a bug shield he never used, all still in the boxes.

Some updates. I finally got around to taking the dash pad out, and installing the OEM speaker brackets from a Suburban. Apparently my truck was originally radio delete. Found the factory radio power plug under the dash and wired my CD player to it. Now works flawless. Also dyed the dash pad black, it'll hold me over until I can afford a new dash pad. Looks awesome.

Eventually when I have some cash I will get new black seat belts and carpet, and OEM bucket seats and center console.

Good shot of Dale's signature too.

Thanks low budget

The transformation begins this week. The rollbar and bed rails are going away. Gonna get a nice tonneau cover. Sandblast all the rust off, weld up all the holes from stuff removed, and primer it all. There isn't any dents to be fixed amazingly, just around the door locks. Cab corners are the only rust thru. Since I am on a budget, I am just going to finish it off with PPG DP-90 black epoxy primer. It'll hold up well to the weather, just no UV resistance. I also want to find the elusive flush tailgate from an early 70's truck.

As for up front, I am picking up an OEM grill for $20 to replace the rusted out aftermarket chrome tube unit. I either want the original argent silver look or the evil blacked out look. Just can't decide. Also getting rid of the visor, the truck looks cleaner without it. Definitely keeping the grill guard, gonna sandblast it if possible and paint it flat black.

Will update with pictures as this project progresses.
