Title: Installing A/c controls. Need a pic and have some questions
Post by: BigBadJohn on July 13, 2009, 08:11:49 pm
Got new a/c controls and a cable from a guy parting out an a/c 75 pickup
There was no temp control cable in the truck when I got it so I dont know how the cable mounts behind the glove box. Was wondering if someone could please take a pic of their cable mounted

Also, there are 2 vacuum hoses going to the passenger kickpanel area. One is connected to a diaphragm and the other is cut off from somewhere and has a bushing/rubber piece molded on to it. Whats this for and where does it go?

The fan wire is disconnected from the fan under the hood.
I put the control assembly in, turned the key into run, and tested voltagfe, and the fan wire has constant voltage to it. Does the engine have to be running with vacuum on it to know its not supposed to run the fan or what could be wrong?

Thanks

The fan should have low speed key on in the off position. If the fan switch is on high it will have close to battery voltage key on

Okay.

The battery has been somewhat drained since I havent ran the truck in a month now and have been testing electrical things on the truck and putting the key in run, so battery voltage is somwhere under 11v now.
I was getting 10.5v with the fan switch on low

Not real sure what the answer was.  I am looking for the vacuum connection myself.  Here's what im talking about.

also, it leads to the diaphragm closest to the driver.

And, willthis keep my wipers from working on the high setting or do I need a new one of these/
