HELLO , JUST WANTED TO SAY HI AND ASK A QUESTION, I JUST BOUGHT A 1977 K-20 4X4, 4 SPEED, 350 4BBL TRUCK. THE FRONT DIFF IS A DANA 44 IM ASSUMING AND THE REAR IS A 14 BOLT GM. THE TRANNY IS THE 4 SPEED ON THE FLOOR. MY QUESTIONS ARE, WHAT MODEL 4 SPEED TRANNY AND TRANSFER CASE IS IN THIS TRUCK?? SOMEONE TOLD ME THE TRANNY IS A MUNCIE 20?? AND THE TRANSFER IS A NP 203? AND ALSO IF I WANNA CHANGE ALL THE FLUIDS OUT IN THE DRIVELINE, FRONT REAR DIFFS, TRANNY AND TRANSFER WHAT TYPE AND WEIGHT FLUIDS WOULD I NEED FOR THEM
THANKS FOR ANY HELP AND GLAD TO BE HERE

well the transfer is probably a 203 the tranny is a sm465 front should be a 44 and rear should be 14 i use 85-90 in my axles as far as the tranny goes haven't got there yet but someone will chime in on that part

try this link to learn about what was put in these 77 trucks.

I was told my 77 1/2 ton only came with NP205 and that is what is in it. I use 80 weight gear lube or 80 W90 gear lube in trans, tansfer case and differentials.

The 203 calls for 10w30 or 40
the 205 calls for GL5

ok another question, when i got the truck the guy said he had to replace the right front axle, the shaft coming from the hub to the diff. im a little out of touch on these old trucks but when i lie under the truck and turn the front drive shaft by hand, shouldnt both left and front axles turn? only the left one will turn when i turn the driveshaft, the right one doesnt move. i jacked the wheel up that had the axle replaced and it spins fine . or is one not turning because its an open diff? any help will be greatly appreciated

Na only one should spin unless you have a locker
