Would it be possible to use the '70's model interior door handle, on a late '80's model truck? Just to clarify I am talking about the handle that you use to pop the door latch and actually open the door from being completely closed, not that defective door strap so many of these trucks have. Anyway, think it could be done? I like the way it looks, as well as the fact that it does not seem to have that flaw (at least, not quite as badly) that makes the door handle stick inwards. Could this be done? If so, what all modifications would need to be done, if any?

I guess it depends what year it was from. I may be wrong but I believe the 73s and 74s were a slightly different door design than the later 70s and 80s models. But say you got them out of a late 70s model I think they should just swap directly. Just disconnect the latch rod from the originals and connect it to the new ones.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else know for sure? Or have any thoughts or opinions?

77-80 door handle will work on 81-87 but will have to cut the door panel at the handle opening

Should just need a slightly bigger hole for the handle to fit through the panel, right?

If it has the chrome cups, you will have to open it up also.

All right well thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like a pretty easy conversion. Or maybe not. Looks like a cutting wheel might come into play...

Well, I won a brand new pair of 'em on eBay. Got 'em for $21 shipped. That's about $24 cheaper than I could have got them from any of the e-tailers I looked at. Guy bought em new and then sold the truck or something. Wasn't one of you guys, was it?
