My shop has become infested with brown recluse spiders. I havent been able to work in my shop much, basically just to get my mower out every saturday for a bit so they have moved in and gotten comfortable.
I have set off 8 bug bombs and sprayed Demon XP in every nook and cranny that I can get to and the things will not die! I even duct taped around the doors and windows so the bomb would not leak out.
I'm sure other people have had these things..what do you do to get rid of them? My oldest son is getting more interested in working with the ol' man and it would kill me if he got bit by one of these foul creatures.
Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

I apparently had a run in with a recluse this spring while cutting branches from a magnolia tree. I was extremely lucky and suffered only a 4 " discoloration on my bicep which scared me for 6 weeks before it went away. Not all bites are devastating. But we've all seen pictures of bad bites and skin deterioration etc, so prevention is a real big deal with these guys.
1. Try the apples from an osage tree- hedge apples- scattered around the shop near doors, windows vents, corners. They do repel spiders.
2. Have a pro exterminator spray exclusively for the recluse. Money well spent.
Good luck. Hope you're all safe in the shop.

id have to move. Snakes are no problem, spiders are a big problem for me. If it has more than 4 legs, I have no use for it

Spray the corners, nooks, & cracks and any area you think might be a nest area with Brake Clean, or Lacquer thinner. I had spiders in my basement, I took a couple cans of brake clean, and raid spider spray. Hosed down any areas I thought they might hang out in.

Thanks for all the replies.
I called the exterminator and it would be $250 for the initial spray on my shop...lol. Sure it would be money well spent, but I don't see me doing that right now.
I am going to try all the suggestions everyone has given..maybe if I bombard them with enough stuff, they will surrender like the cowards that they are!
Those Big H traps are reasonably priced..gonna order some tomorrow.
Thanks again guys.
