Title: brake booster problem
Post by: Irish_Alley on August 06, 2009, 11:32:20 pm
well driving my truck today and while driving i noticed it was acting funny with the idle so i popped the hood and saw 2 out of 4 mounting tabs on the carb were broke so i temp fixed that problem and tried to get home, now i have an vacuum leak and she kept wanted to stall out. comming up to a red light in town she just dies so i had to depend on brakes with no vacuum to power them stopped it in time, but now everytime i use the brakes she dies i can hear the booster just sucking air when the breaks are being used. guess i pressed to hard trying to stop those 38's and it broke the booster

What was your temporary fix for the carb?

well it was really complicated since the two corners that broke were across from one another i just had to tighten the carb down with the other two using more tq than i would like to but it worked, but i still had a big vacuum leak that was a big problem but the gas leaking out was fixed. when i said temp fix i meant i just rigged it up to get back home.
