Title: Found a mystery wire at my gas tank
Post by: DnStClr on August 08, 2009, 12:31:21 pm
I'm replacing myleft hand in-tank fuel pump on my 87. When I dropped the tank I found a blue wire above the tank. I'm not sure yet where it goes-. Maybe I can get a better look at it when I get the tank all the way out..

Mystery wire solved. It's the original ground wire for the tank. I guess it wasn't reused when somebody r&r'd the sending unit before I bought the truck.

By the way- Thanks to CaptKaos for the writeup in the Tech section detailing how-to on the tank/pump replacement.it was really handy.
But I'm a little disappointed. When I opened my box from NAPA there was only the pump and seal pkg-no video camera in it...

Glad you got it figured out! That guy never got back to me on the dash yet?

He told me he doesn't watch the emails very close and it's better to call him. I'd think he would want to sell it more than that.
