Title: Shop Manual Question
Post by: dbusher on August 18, 2009, 12:19:19 pm
I just bought an 84 Chevy Silverado.  I see Chevy shop manuals on ebay.  "S Series" , "10-30 Series" and "Light Duty".    How do I know which one is mine?  I don't see an indication on my truck.  I am assuming 10-30 series.

Its the C/K series. 10-30 is correct, but the light duty maybe correct as well.

thanks for the quick response!  Just ordered it.  Need to figure out why the truck doesn't want to stay in park gear.  :-\

make sure the linkage is allowing it to go all the way to the detent position. Put the parking brake on, chock the tires, then put it in park. Go under the truck and check the linkage to the tranny. Loosen the bolt that tightens the shift rod and see if the lever on the tranny will go any further towards the park position. If its ok, it may be the parking pawl in the tranny. Im not sure how to replace that, but guaranteed someone here knows, just hang tight and the info will start rolling in.

Got a real nice 1984 10-30 Series Truck Shop Manual.  Has a LOT of info in it...except how to change oil LOL.  Guess I need to get a owners manual now.   This is what happens to you when you drive a newer model car for so long..you forget basic repair stuff.  I feel like an idiot relearning this.
