Ok...I am looking for a replacement dash for my 84. I have searched the forums and cant seem to find any recomendations on a good replacement. I just ordered one off of ebay for 257 that was supposed to be a factory style reproduction, but when I opened the box it was a rubbery (polyurethane) dash. I figured I would try to fit it because it didnt look bad. Notice I said didnt....Once in the truck it looked pretty bad. The holes dont line up and it is has wavy spots all over it.
Basically I wanted to see where you guys would recommend buying a nice dash that actually fits...
::)Ps anyone want a new polyurethane dash? LOL

Welcome to the site.
A GM dash is the only way to go in my opinion.
Captkaos sells them for $355 on this sites online store.
For an extra $100 you can get the real deal.

Thanks for the welcome.. I have been lurking for a while and I like the forum. It seems as if people actually try to help eachother out here, which is very rare on most other forums Im on. Now are you referring to this site??? http://www.captkaoscustoms.com If so either Im blind (which is very possible) or he doesnt sell them anymore. Do you happen to know where I can get the "real deal" my local dealer has no part# available for it. I dont mind spending the money for a quality dash. I just dont like to half ass anything...

See the banner for 73-87Chevytrucks.com thats under your first post, thats the link to the online store owned by Captkaos, who also owns this site.
Just click on the banner, than on interiors, than dashes, and you will see the GM dash listed.
The link that you found was a website dedicated to one of his projects.
If I wasn't so computer illiterate I would post a link for you (haven't figured that out yet)

;DMuch appreciated guys!! Im going to go ahead and order it. My other question now is how durable is that SEM paint/die? I have all Black in my truck and will have to paint the dash since they dont have Black. Im a little concerned about it flaking in the hot Florida sun..

Sucks that you were taken for $257. But at least you found us. Welcome aboard.

Yeah it sucks...I dont see how they actually sell these. It seems as if almost everywhere you find a dash for our trucks if you read the fine print its polyurethane. Owell I just want to get it done its driving me nuts. The outside is looking pretty good, but the interior needs major work, here are some pics so you can see why It bothers me so much

Those dashes direct pieces of garbage are useless and a RIDICULOUS excuse for a replacement. They aren't even remotely close to a decent fit. Factory pads are the way to go! eMail the webmaster here and see if he has any left.

I have some ready to ship. The Dashes Direct urethane junk has been discussed on here many times. I have some that I am won't sell. On the other hand the skinned vinyl versions are a close match.
SEM paint will hold up fine if you apply it properly. See N2TRUX writeup here: http://73-87.com/7387garage/interior/vinyl_dye.htm

your truck would look better with a shaved fiber glass dash and custom door panels that rod doors makes and Capt sells

I have been getting quotes to have some custom door panels made, I had no idea those were being made in bulk. They look nice. As soon as I get my dash and guages taken care of I may get a set of those.. Im not really into the fiberglass look. I like more of the old hot rod style.
