I installed a radio in my 87 Chevy today and realized the truck does not have an antenna the antenna wire runs up to the center of the windshield inside the cab and nothing from there. Anyone know where an antenna would go on this truck, there is no place on the cowl, hood, or fender. I have had this truck for about 5 years and never had a radio in it so I never noticed I did not have an antenna. ???

The two wires running up the center of the windsheild is the antenna. Thats one of the things I like about these trucks

Ok thanks alot for the info. I had a new windshield put in it, and they cracked it right at the bottom there at the two lines. Maybe that is why i do not get any am/fm service.
-
Yep, thats the only problem with it. If the windsheild cracks, there goes reception. Are they gonna replace it since they cracked it.
-
No they would not replace it. It was put in over 3 years ago and i gave up fighting them after few months cause they just flat out said they were not going to replace it.
-
Well, thats crappy. Its either time for an aftermarket external antenna, new windsheild, or I saw somewhere they make a hidden antenna similar to the one from the factory. It can be run along the window(clear tape type stuff) and be made not so obvious. If I can find it again, I'll send you the link.

Ok thanks. I will prolly just have a new one put in it. i got a military discount on this one it was installed like 170 but i just wish they would of done it right.

I've never spent more than $120 bucks installed for one of these windshields. Just talk to a glass guy and make a cash deal.

I have the same windshield as you so I am gonna use one of those hidden antennas. Here is a link to one.
