I agree with everything he said, thats why I carry every day. Although I had to jump through the hoops and get my concealed carry permit to do so.

I didn't. Just had to spend 6 hours in a class. Kind of annoying but I guess it helps to educate people. You'd be amazed at what you can legally shoot someone in texas for. If I see a robbery, I can shoot. If I see a rape, I can shoot. If I see a theft on my property, (of tangible property) I can shoot. If someone breaks in, I can shoot. If someone is going to try to beat me up, I can shoot. God bless Texas. Course I would not shoot over those things. Merely brandishing the gun is enough 99/100 times.

This is kinda what folks like me count on: the idea that most responsible gun owners will avoid shooting anyone when they really don't have to. The gung-ho gun fondlers probably wouldn't bother jumping through all the hoops anyway, which kinda makes the whole process seem a bit silly. Ah, well.

Oh don't get me wrong I still may bust off a round or two, if the offense is bad enough, but it will just be to make them fear that they are being shot at. And it will be in their direction. I will just be aiming slightly to the side so as to not hit em. But when you hear shots you don't stop to consider the exact angle of the gun pointed at ya.

No warning shots from me....If I have to pull my weapon, its life or death at that point.

What do ya need a permit for?

Texas law. I want to be able to (legally)carry even when away from my vehicle.

Skunk, I know what your saying, but I don't agree totally.  That bullet will go somewhere and I would rather it go into the bad guy and not an innocent person down the way that has no time to get out of the way.  Don't get me wrong, I really don't want to shoot anybody either, but if I'm shooting, the bad guy will catch the bullet!

Exactly.  Never point your weapon at something you aren't prepared to kill.  Never present your weapon unless you are prepared to use it.  Deliberately firing your weapon slightly away from the target as a threat can easily get you or an innocent bystander killed.  My pistol isn't for firing in the air or firing into a wall.  It's for firing into the chest of someone who is trying to kill or otherwise harm me.  Any other usage is misuse.

My Dad taught me his philosphy on guns as a young boy. He said these things regarding a gun.

#1- I don't care how many times you have checked it, always treat a gun as if it is loaded.

#2- Never point a gun at someone unless you intend to shoot them.

#3- Never shot a man unless you intend to kill him.

My old man was much wiser than I ever realized.
