Title: Electrical Issue

I just put in a new starter and when I hook up the batery it arcs. Any suggestions. I have read through the threads but I have no clue. Thanks.

Sounds like it is shorting to ground.  I would check to see if the positive cable is touching ground anywhere, or if the cable is bolted correctly onto the terminal on the solenoid.  the top one away from the starter motor battery is the one the battery cable goes to...the other large one connects to the starter motor.  the purple wire goes to the small S terminal.  You could also have a bad starter.

Thanks, I checked the battery cable and it was actually touching the S terminal.
