Title: tach dash swap
Post by: 77camperspecial on September 18, 2009, 11:15:26 am
I have a 77 with clock option dash and I purchased a full tach dash assembly that I now know is From a 73-75 ? it has the amp gage not a volt gage.  What i was wondering is if i purchased the right printed circut for my 77 and used all the components from my 77 and just used the housing that mounts the gages from the tach dash and the tack and fuel gage. Would that be a functional swap out. I have a mechanical oil pressure gage no problems there. It really seems like the only problem is the volt over amp gage issue. all help would be greatly appreciated.

The wiring for the AMP setup is different than the Volt setup.  It would require a rewire to get it to work.

if i used the correct printed circut and my original volt gage would that work. the only thing that would be from the 73-75 cluster would be the plastic housing that holds the gages and the tack i would be transferring all the gages but fuel and tack from my 77 cluster.

If you use a 77 Printed circuit, along with the volt gauge AND repin the volt gauge connectors (the metal clips the gauge plugs into) you're good. I've done this before and it worked fine.

Prong is correct.  If you get it all swapped and repinned, it will work.
