HI I AM NEW TO THIS SITE AND HAVE HAD MY 85 SILVERADO SINCE 1991 BROUGHT FROM 1ST OWNER I AM PUTTING IN CRATE ENGINE FROM JEGS. I WANT TO PUT 700R4 IN TRUCK NOW HAS 400TURBO TRUCK DID HAVE V 6 ENGINE. THE TRUCK HAS 2.73 GEARS NOW. WOULD 3.42 GEARS WORK GOOD WITH THE 700R4 TRANS? ONE OTHER QUESTION WOULD THE COMPLETE REAR END FROM 85 EL CAMINO FIT MY TRUCK AND WHEEL BOLT PAT. BE SAME? THANKS HOSSCATT

Nah, what he means is your tire size, not wheel size. The important part is how tall your tires are going to be. Example: z 275/60-15 tire is 28" tall. This could affect your gear ratio choice compared to say using a 31" tall tire.

El Camino rearend is not going to bolt in a truck. It is a car rear end and has a different bolt pattern.
