hay i might b buying a blazer 4 parts like the doors and windsheld hood ect but the Question i got is if i cut the back fender well can i weld it to my bed side and it mach up ? and thr same with the rear part like where the tail light goes ?
-
If you are only wanting the straight portion yes. If you want to cut the whole side off, it is to short. Is that what you are asking?
-
no i was just wantin to use parts of the blazer for paching and cuting out my rust

I just bought a set of new doors for my truck they were on a 83 blazer, the guy started to fix it up then gave up on it , i gave 100 bucks 4 the doors and there only 4 years old 8) but he said he would sale me the whole thing 4 a nother 150 bucks its got a new hood on it as well .... iv got a few questions will the axles fit under my truck ? (85 gmc lwb 4x4 ) if so i could get them off of it 4 my truck some day if i ever needed them i could use the hood if i ever hit a deer and the windshield is good 2 so I'm at a loss ........ i don't want a blazer or would ever fix it up it has no motor or trans .... it dose on the other hand have new exhaust but I'm not shure if that would fit on my truck at all but any way the fiberglass top is good fenders needed a Little to no work i just dont know .....and I'm not sure how i would get rid of it when i got the axles out from underneath it any realistic ideas??
thanks Matt

I would take the Blazer and strip whatever I could use. I think the Blazer rears won't fit due to spring perch location but not sure. If the rears are out I would set it down on logs or blocks and call a junkman on it. Most yards will bring a set of wheels or dollys if you let them know ahead of time. Good luck!

Get it! Strip and sell what you can and scrap the rest. I did this with 2 pickups, and the second one I parted-out without even unloading it. I bought it with no motor and a rotted body for $250. My buddy towed it to his house, which was a mile from the scrap yard, and over the course of 2 nights in his driveway I cut the u-bolts to free the axles (got $300 for the 14bolt FF and D44 front), dropped the TH400/NP205 to the trailer bed crossmember and all (I was saving that for me), kept the driveshafts and all shift linkage (for me), took the hood, fenders, doors, steering box and pump, and steering column (still have yet to sell, might save for myself) and towed it to the scrap man. He picked the rotted carcass with a forklift and left the rest behind. I chained the axles down and drove it to my house and rolled everything off. I could have scrounged a lot more off of it, but I was pressed for time because 1) it was in someone else's yard and I didn't want to ruin a good friendship and 2) I wanted to be rid of it quickly instead of wasting a lot of time on a parts rig so reason #1 gave me the motivation to hurry along.
I sold the fenders off of the first parts truck for $120 and the doors went for $125, so I'm guessing I can get an easy $200-$300 for the matching hood/fenders/doors as this second set is in better condition if I get short on dough.
If you've got a few hours to spare and a place to keep parts (mine are under a tarp in the backyard), then you can make some coin on this one.

Both axles will work, possibly springs, front drive shaft, and the entire front clip. Steering column, and dash components as well. Thing is, do you need the spare parts, and do you have room for them. Id say go for it, epsecially if its only $150. But if you dont need it, Ive also learned that getting rid of the peices you dont need can be a pain

thanks guyes,
he said he would even bring it to my house lol so i told him if he could have it to my place by next weekend he would b 150 richer i could probly use th exuahast untill it whent over the axals right ?
-
Pretty much all the drivetrain pieces will work minus of course the rear driveshaft.
Exhaust would be a stretch in my opinion.
Everything from the Cab forward (minus the rear pillars) are identical.
-
sweet thanks i told him i wanted it so well c what hapens
-
Only the front portion of the floorpan is the same and the rockers. Basically from the back of the doors forward and none of the floor under the seat.

ok thanks

I've only just read this thread, and haven't previously thought it through, but it seems like
using the whole Blazer body on the longer frame, then adding a section of the pickup bed
would produce an old-school kinda Avalanche.
Cut off the last few inches, removing the taillights, tack on the panel off the back of a cab,
while leaving the top intact, even if it hangs over the bed a little bit.
-
lol ya your right but im just goina use the blazer 4 parts for my truck, and replace the parts i take off the truck and put back on the blazer and try to sale it ( maby some one could use it as a mudder or somthing like that ). Iv kinda screwed up iv got 2 threads going on this blazer so sorry 4 the confusion ( the other thread is what to do what to do ) for more on the blazer go there
thanks matt

Avalanches were based on Suburbans with 4 doors but I guess I can understand what you are defining, sorta. Other than the cut the back off portion.
You would have to section it after the cab and add a section in the middle for it to work.
Post the other thread and I will merge them.

It wouldn't quite parallel the Avalanche, but I'm sure if done right, it'd still look pretty good.
