All,
I need guidance with some tranny issues. I am shifting from 3rd to 4th at the wrong speed/rpm. Once in O/D(what I'm calling 4th) it downshifts with little change in load or speed and then won't stay in 3rd or 4th unless I'm on perfectly flat grade or going downhill. It also seems to shift into O/D early most of the time.
I started trying to trouble shoot and was trying to check the linkage when I noticed with the key in ACC and any gear except P, the truck will roll. WTH!
I'm lost. Is the shift between 3 and 4 all ECM driven or is there a mechanical linkage like a T/V cable?
Also, my accelerator pedal seems to be binding when first pressed. That is to say it's hard to push that first 1/8th of an inch and then it's normal. My neighbors are tired of my chirping out of the driveway every morning.
I love this forum and any information will be greatly appreciated.
Pics coming soon on rebuild, just got back from paint.

Adjust the TV cable. Tighten the cable a few clicks towards the firewall. More towards the firewall will result in later shifts. Try that first... of course check the fluid level. What you are describing is an early shift and converter lock up.... Then back out (we call this hunting)

Thanks Vile, I will try that. I suspected fluid issues, but shows full and good color with no signs of leakage. "Hunting" is a perfect description of what it is doing.
