Title: my 1980 GMC 2500
Post by: 84ramcharger on October 02, 2009, 07:30:14 pm
Well I brought her home on Monday , been a busy week so i haven't had time to take pics of my truck and the little things i've done so far
I thought it was a chevy but it's a gmc no biggie for me . Some buggered the grill and smashed one of the windows in the back before i picked it up  >:( .  It's had maybe 100 kms on it since the paint job in 2005 , my father inlaw just drove it around a bit .
When I got to his place he had already changed all the fluids for me and filled both tanks ( thanks to his company gas card lol )
The only thing i noticed was the speedo didn't work and a small coolant leak  , after the truck was shut off . I put a bottle of bars leak in and headed back home 500 kms away .  I used my blackberrys gps to judge my speed lol .

I'm the 3rd owner , it's never been paid for lol . It was won in a barrel racing competition in 1980 by my wife's second cousin , drove for a few years then parked in a barn . In 2004 it was given to my Father in-law , and now to me  :D .

So here is the only pic i have right now (cell phone)

454 turbo 400 , not 100% sure on the gears being 4.11's as i was told they were as i got around 14 mpg

My wife recovered the dash as it was cracked bad .
Still need to get the new headers or manifolds , rear bumper , back glass fixed , get a replacement grill and figure out the gas tanks and gauges lol , i got lot of small things done also , got the leak gone was the most important lol .
I need to get the body detailed though , i'm no good at it and it could use a good buff .
I got lucky though he filled the tool box full of oil , air/gas/ oil filters , brake fluid , power steering fluid and load of cleaners and penetrating oils  .

Even got the manual's , gm service log and guide too .

Good looking rig.

I like the cab lights.

The factory hood ornament is kind of rare for trucks from that vintage.
