Good afternoon from Phoenix, soon to be Colorado. I have a 79 stepside I am trying to complete to look like the one from CHIPS TV show. I took off the beat up body and put an 82 cab, front clip and step side bed on. I was trying to open the hood to do the wiring harness and the hood is stuck closed. The cable is able to be pulled from the inside but doesn't pop open the hood. It feels like it is still attached. Anthing I can do other than take it to a shop? I will post some pics later this week, it is coming along good.
thanks

I have to pop mine on the front with my fist lightly to get mine to open just about every time. Give it a try...

me and my cuzin had this happen to us when we were putting his 86 back together when we were fitting the hood back on what we did was get a saw cut a grovve in the bottom of it to put a flat head in there to screw it out the opisite way.

Have someone pull on the release handle, and reach over and "pop" the hood. It should come up.I have had this problem on several trucks. Time for some lubrication, and make sure the spring is good.

I thought it was standard to do that with all GM's ;D

Hey John, just pull on the hood release while Ponch gently taps on the hood. When you get it open have Harlan spray the latch with some white lithium grease
If all else fails tell Grossman there are some donuts under the hood, he will find a way to get it open.

Thanks for the help guys sorry for the delay. I got it open with a spoon wrench and busted the latch. The cable had broken off, so got new cable and latch, works good now.
I got a hold on Ponch on this next one but he doesnt remember anything about Jon's truck. I put an 82 C10 cab and bed on my 79 K10 frame. All the wiring went well but it wont turn over. No Gauges or anything. Did GM change the fuse block configuration from 79 to 82? I hope not.
Thanks.
PS alot of nice rides here, hopefully I can get mine to look half as good when I get back to work! LOL!
