Title: Nagging Oil Leak
Post by: 4x4Cowgirl on October 08, 2009, 04:44:07 pm
Alright, I have an oil leak on my truck, so I replaced the oil pan and bought a new rubber gasket, and it is STILL leaking...??? It's leaking right there at the rear seal of the oil pan, by the flywheel. I can't figure it out and I'm getting tired of taking off that oil pan lol. Any ideas of how to fix it?

Don't mean to sound stupid, but are you sure it isn't the rear main seal?

I would replace the rear main seal and verify that the pan gasket is seated correctly and properly torqued. They can be tricky but if done correctly be leak free for years.

The one-piece gaskets are less tricky.

Yeah I got the reusable rubber one, its a one peice. It's rainin today, but tmrw i'm gonna try a little silicone with the rubber gasket.. and if its still leaking, then it aint the oil pan. time will tell
