While it ain't in the cards for me right now, as Sliver's 350 is running well, but it occured to me that
a newer Atlas inline-6 could be a really nice thing to have under the hood.
The mill in my Trailblazer does pretty well, is rated at 270hp and nearly 300lbs of torque, with a flat
curve.
There would, of course, be the obvious issues with the computer, fuel injection, and the like, but I've
googled a bit and have yet to run across any examples of this.
So it'd be a real attention getter at shows and meetups.

If you want attention and a major project, go for it. But I personally don't think it's worth all the effort.
If it's an inline 6 you want, find a good 250 or 292 core to rebuild, slip in a mild cam and run a slick side draught weber setup. ;D

Easier, yeah, but I don't think I'd even be able to legally use one of those in my '86.
I also don't really want to step *down* in power right now. This was really more of a
brain-food post, as I don't see myself doing a complicated swap in the foreseeable future
anyway, save for maybe swapping my th350 for an overdrive trans.
It'd still be, for a capable wrench, a pretty cool resto-mod replacement for an older truck.

I've thought about doing it too. My bro's got an envoy with that engine that seems pretty bullet proof and can probably haul a fair amount of weight.
