Just picked up a 89 one ton bonus cab dually 4x4. It has a 454 and automatic. Runs and drives great for 300 bucks. My question is its carbureted. Is this correct for this truck or should it be tbi?
-
Yes they still made them carbureted until the end of the R/V series. I had a wrecker with a 454 factory Q-jet.
-
Pretty sure 87+ is tbi for that truck

I stopped reading at 454/Dana60/Turbo 400-205 for $300.
Nice score. Like Vile said, the 4 barrel was available(although rare) on the higher GVW trucks.

You could still get carbs on the HD trucks. TBI was across the board on 1/2T's

This deal was a matter of being at the right place at the right time. It was going to be junked because its a gas hog? I saved it though.
