Title: Control Arm shaft removal.

I have a 78 2wd, truck.  Looking for any tips on removing the control arm shafts.  Do they slide out through one end of the control arm?  Whats the techique? I don't want todo any damage to the arm.  They are already out of the truck and ball joints removed.

Not sure how to explain it:  Press the shaft out to one side until it comes out of the bushing, pull the bushing out, then press the shaft back the other way out of the last remaining bushing.

mine were seized in there really good and i dont have a press >:( ...so i had drill out the rubber on them then smack the heck out of the sleeve that was left in the arm using a chisel and folding the sleeve in worked best

After all these years you are better off just taking a sawsall or a grander with a cutoff wheels and cutting the old shaft in 2 and useing a air chisle to remove the bushings, and half of the shaft and install a new shaft, I will bet the inner bushing shell is rusted firmly to the shaft. really not worth the time and pain to remove it and clean the shaft even if you did get the whole shaft out.
Rockauto has the whole kit with a new shaft and bushings from  $38-$72 a side depending on what brand you get.
