Title: Why doesnt it fit?

OK, I know people say door panels and dash from a 70s truck doesnt fit the 80s truck and vice versa, buy why? What needs to be done to convert it? Is it just the screw holes or does it not fit properly when the door is closed? Thanks!!

73-76 door panels are shorter. The window regulator was shorter also. If you have a 77 up door the panel will not cover the holes in the door.

77-91 doors are the same, there is no issue with swapping any of these years around.

You may have an issue with some door handles not clearing other year panels but that can be easily remedied.

73-80 and 81-91 interior handles need to be used together within those years.
I was assuming we were swapping guts to a bare door shell.
